Intersurgical offers a complete Oral Care programme to assist in the fight against Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP). VAP is a growing concern in modern hospital environments as it can cause prolonged intubation and a prolonged stay in ICU with the associated costs. A combination of oral care treatments (brushing and suctioning) in a proper oral care protocol means care providers can efficiently prevent oropharyngeal bacterial biofilm build-up. This in turn leads to a reduction of VAP and aspiration pneumonias and greatly reduces associated treatment costs.

Intersurgical offer a range of OroCare™ toothbrushes, suction wand and catheters along with accessories to supply a full oral care programme.

The new OroCare day kits facilitate introduction of an oral care hygiene routine over a 24 hour period. Available for 4-hour (q4) or 8-hour (q8) intervention options, they offer a simple to use disposable solution straight from the pack. Each pack contains a suction brush or a suction wand, plus one liquid dispenser cup and a mouth moisturiser applicator sponge. The day kits with mouthwash also contain one sachet of 0.12% Chlorhexidine (15ml) mouthwash. All day kits are supplied with a newly designed universal management hanger, which can be adapted to provide a convenient solution for most situations.
