Sklar's® Ballenger Sponge Forceps are designed to be used in delicate and soft tissue dissection, to hold gauze for absorbing excess fluids and blood. Like most sponge forceps, they are ratched and have fenestrated tips, and are commonly used in the gynecology field. The Ballenger forceps are of typical length, whereas the Foersters come in longer varieties suited for bariatrics. These are available smooth or serrated, and either straight or curved configuration.
