Dental Assistant (RDA)

The RDA(AMT) credential is a voluntary certification conferred by a private credentialing organization and is not a substitute for compliance with any licensing or regulatory requirements that an individual state may impose. The RDA(AMT) certification is designed to signify entry-level competence in basic dental assisting competencies. It does not, by itself, qualify an individual to perform “expanded functions” or “advanced” dental assisting procedures in any state that requires a license for, or otherwise regulates the practice of those advanced functions. Each RDA(AMT) certification candidate should ascertain what education and qualification requirements may apply to various levels of dental assisting practice under the laws or regulations of your particular state.

Note: All applicants must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross, or show proof of comparable training. The date on the CPR card should be current at the time of AMT certification. If physical limitations prevent CPR certification, contact the AMT Office.
